There’s not much better on a hot summer’s day than an ice cold glass of fresh squeezed lemonade. Our home came with a big, beautiful lemon tree, so we’ve been spoiled with home grown lemons for years. Our tree produces so many giant, juicy lemons, that I can’t even remember the last time I bought one at the grocery store.
Because of our massive bounty every year, I’ve had to get creative with my uses for all those lemons. We give A TON away to friends, family, and neighbors. A lot of the lemons we keep for ourselves get juiced and frozen in batches to use throughout the year. I bring in a big bucket of fresh picked lemons and spend part of the day juicing and dividing. Some batches go in freezer bags to be used in lemonade for parties we have during the year, or for when we’re just in the mood for some fresh squeezed lemonade (minus the actual squeezing).
Other batches get poured into ice cube trays. This might be my most genius idea to date. It’s super handy always having fresh lemon juice on hand for those recipes that call for one or two tablespoons. I just pop a cube in the microwave for a few seconds, and I’m set.
If you’re like me and have a ton of lemons on your hands, or if you just love to sip on fresh squeezed lemonade all summer long, this recipe is just what you need! I know everyone’s tastes are a little different, so I made sure this recipe was right in the middle. Not too sweet, not too sour. If you like more of a lemon zing, just reduce the amount of water a little bit and add more lemon juice. Or if you like it super sweet (like my husband) you can add more simple syrup (super simple recipe here).
How do you like your fresh squeezed lemonade? Sour, sweet, just a hint of lemon? Let me know in the comments!
